This tree variety is found in the West of North America, is the dominant pine in the US Rockies, extending from well above the Canadian border all the way into Mexico. Ponderosa Pine can be found from near sea level in Washington state to 3000m (10’000ft) in Arizona on practically any type of soil.
The interior of British Columbia has many stands of Ponderosa Pine, from the semi-arid grassland areas of the South Okanagan Valley to range country along the North Thompson and Fraser rivers, as well as most anywhere in-between.
